AGE/DIVISION
What are the age groups?
1st & 2nd Grade:
Boys & Girls may be mixed, but can be split based on enrollment.
→ Instructional Division: Two weeks practice followed by "Coach Supervised" games.
→ Starts in late November and runs thru end of February.
→ Games on weeknights (6:15 - 6:30 pm) and/or Saturday mornings (9:00 am to 1:00 pm)
*All players get trophies.
Divisions Structured as follows:
Boys:
→ 3rd & 4th grade
→ 5th & 6th grade
→ 7th thru 12th grade
(Divisions made to suit enrollment)
Girls:
→ 3rd & 4th grade
→ 5th & 6th grade
→ 7th & 8th grade
→ 9th Grade & Up
(Based on enrollment)
DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM
How is the Season played?
→ No wins / losses or standings will be kept. No playoffs in Divisions thru 8th grade. Playoffs may occur above 9th Grade if enrollment exists.
→ All players are to get equal playing time in every Division.
→ Games may be competitive, but in the spirit of good sportsmanship and are played for fun.
LOCATION
What days do the kids play?
Gym time in Bethpage schools is limited. Age groups cannot all play at the same time each week. All divisions usually get games on different nights thru the season. The different nights usually allow kids to make most games if they have more than one commitment during the week. Saturday games are possible. Travel games begin for some Grades in 4th Grade & up. These games are in the other PAL towns, and you will travel to nearby gyms. Nights will vary.
REQUESTS
Do you take requests?
→ Requests are honored when possible. It is more likely that requests will be honored at younger ages only. As they move along in the program, it is good for kids to be on teams with new friends they have not met and players will be mixed as best as possible to make fair teams.
→ Please limit your requests to 1 or 2 kids. Requests that intermingle more than four kids together may not be honored.
Do you give refunds?
→ Divisions or Teams may be canceled and refunds given if there are not enough Coaches.
→ Refunds are at the discretion of the Bethpage PAL.
